Although the weather still feels like August, the overall vibe in the Hamptons has shifted to Fall. With quieter villages and beaches, hardly any traffic, and the ability to walk-in dine at most restaurants, this is arguably the best time of year out east. If you're lucky enough to still be here, the following picks from our social calendar are definitely worth checking out.

HARBORFEST, SAG HARBOR
SEPTEMBER 16 & 17

Author John Steinbeck was one of the original founders of this beloved annual event which features live music, food, beer and wine, arts and crafts, tons of vendors, and whaleboat racing, all set against the picturesque backdrop of the Sag Harbor wharf and marina. Don’t miss the clam chowder contest on Sunday at noon, then over at Steinbeck Park for a kid’s zone with pony rides, bounce castles, games, a petting zoo, and even a fire juggling show!

HANKS PUMPKINTOWN
HANKS PUMPKINTOWN

LOCAL FARMS

It’s never too early to get those fall vibes going at the local farms with corn mazes, play zones, cider donuts, petting zoos, roasted corn, and so, so many pumpkins. Apple picking at Milk Pail is open already, and so is Hank's Pumpkintown. We also love Seven Ponds Orchard, and Fairview Farm, and of course Harbes up on the North Fork.

 SOUND VIEW NORTH FORK
THE SOUND VIEW, GREENPORT

A WEEKEND UP NORTH

Speaking of the North Fork, it’s the perfect time of year to spend a whole weekend up there. Grab a room at the Menhaden, North Fork Table & Inn (dinner here is a must), the newly renovated Silver Sands, or the Sound View. Then spend your days at Harbes Farms, wine tasting, strolling around Greenport and Love Lane in Mattituck, then for dinner check out the Frisky Oyster, Duryeas Orient Point, the Halyard, or Noah’s.

 MONTAUK POINT LIGHTHOUSE

A DAY IN MONTAUK

It's time to head out to Montauk and enjoy the cooler weather and reduced crowds. Go tour the lighthouse, take a trail ride at Deep Hollow, wander around Gosman’s Dock, and enjoy nature walks at Shadmoor and Big Reed Pond (just remember that bug spray, unfortunately the ticks don’t leave after Labor Day, we really wish they did.)

SAN GENNARO FEAST OF THE HAMPTONS

SAN GENNARO FEAST OF THE HAMPTONS, HAMPTON BAYS
SEPTEMBER 23 & 24

Bring your appetite, this street food fair—carnival mash up event has all of Hampton Bays smelling like garlic, sausage, and peppers for the whole weekend and we’re not mad about it. There’s live music, fireworks, rides, games, raffles, local restaurants serving up outstanding fare and eating contests with zeppoles, meatballs, pizza, and cannoli. Mangia!

 SAG HARBOR AMERICAN MUSIC FESTIVAL

SAG HARBOR AMERICAN MUSIC FESTIVAL
SEPTEMBER 28 - OCT 1

Four days of nonstop live music all over Sag Harbor make this an incredible weekend to head into the village for shopping and dining. Make sure you get to see all your favorite artists by checking out the schedule here.

 ARF STROLL TO THE SEA

ARF’S STROLL TO THE SEA DOG WALK
OCTOBER 7

Not only is Fall the perfect time of year to take your pooches to the beaches (most restrictions end after Labor Day) but it’s also time for ARF’s adorable Annual Stroll to the Sea. If your family loves dogs as much as we do, this is a great event for fundraising, socializing, exercising and all-around canine worshipping.

HAMPTONS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
OCTOBER 6 – 12

This event needs no introduction. Over the last 31 years HIFF has become an internationally renowned event. Variety Magazine summed it up recently as “one of America’s most glamorous displays of the best in cutting-edge cinema.” Enough said, see you there!!!
