May is finally here, summer is right around the corner, we’ve paid our winter dues, and we’ve got a serious case of spring fever—so here are our curated picks for getting out and about in the Hamptons this month. We’ve got a few popular picks, a few best kept secrets and even a special Mother's Day Leallo gift, so read on for more.

SPRING FLING AT THE PARRISH ART MUSEUM

Unless you’ve been living under a Hamptons rock, you likely know about this event already. It’s the biggest fundraiser of the year for this beloved local institution and we fully support splurging to donate and celebrate along. This year it’s dedicated to the art of Simón Vega, so everyone will be decked out in tropical prints, vibrant colors and metallics. If you’ve got spring fever and you’re feeling a little extra, this is the event for you.

MOTHER’S DAY

We love to start Mother’s Day morning with a little outdoor adventure. Our favorite tradition is a morning hike at Barcelona Neck (just watch out for ticks.) But if you’d rather lounge instead of hike, skip right to a takeout breakfast or lunch from Carissas or Provisions, and spread it out at Marine Park for a lazy, casual picnic watching the boats and feeding crumbs to the seagulls, before strolling around town to pick out a few gifts for yourself. Don’t forget to layer a sweatshirt, it can still be chilly out there this time of year, but if you forget, just head over to Leallo Sag Harbor ;)

THE MONTAUK MUSIC FESTIVAL

We love the casual, family friendly vibe of this waterfront festival at the Montauk Yacht Club. Grab a bag of sandwiches and snacks at Jonis or Naturally Good (there are no coolers/outside alcohol allowed, there will be all sorts of drinks available at the festival) spread out a blanket and a few beach chairs and enjoy the music! Children under 5 are free, and a percentage of the proceeds will benefit Lucia’s Angels & East End Coalition for Women’s Cancers

OUR FAVORITE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND RITUALS

Here are some of our favorite low-key things to on Memorial Day Weekend…

  • Rise and shine early, slip on some sandals, grab a light sweatshirt, and head out for your favorite coffee and a leisurely stroll around the villages.

  • Slip off those sandals and get your bare feet into the chilly sand at the ocean, some of the best beachcombing happens before the summer season gets underway.

  • Eat al fresco. Whether you head out to Baron’s Cove, Sunset Beach or Cowfish—or you prefer to grab some takeout and dust off your outdoor dining table, or fire up the grill, eating a meal outdoors is an essential Memorial Day Weekend rite of passage.
