Kate Rose, Intuitive Healer & Reiki Master

Mecox Pullover

Some journeys don’t unfold in a straight line, they spiral, deepen, and ask you to choose yourself again and again. Kate Rose’s story is one of those journeys.

An Intuitive Healer, Reiki Master, and the founder of Rose In Light, Kate blends Reiki, tapping, and other intuitive healing modalities to help people reconnect with their inner light. Her path has been layered and transformative, shaped by profound life moments that ultimately led her to step fully into her calling. Now based in Sag Harbor, her work feels especially aligned with the East End’s softer rhythm: grounded, intentional, and quietly radiant.

Below, Kate shares how her Reiki journey began, what a session can truly shift, the rituals that anchor her, and the Leallo pieces she can’t stop reaching for.

You have such a calming presence. For those meeting you for the first time, how did your journey into Reiki begin, and what ultimately drew you into this work?

My story is a long one, and there were many life moments that brought me here, but the main catalyst for fully stepping into this work was having brain surgery seven years ago.

For about ten years, I had been exploring and practicing different spiritual and healing modalities. In 2017, I received my first Reiki certification. I absolutely loved it. I practiced daily, and by mid-2018, I completed my mastery level.

Then in 2019, it was discovered that I had a brain tumor that had been growing for about 21 years. It needed immediate removal. It was benign, and I’m fine now, but it was such a wake-up call. I started asking different questions about the kind of life I wanted to live and the impact I wanted to have in my little corner of the world.

It still took time to untangle from a corporate environment, but in early 2022, I founded Rose in Light and made this work my priority. I believe we all have spiritual gifts, we’re just at varying stages of understanding or practicing them. So I’ve made it my mission to help people get closer to their own higher selves.

For someone new to Reiki, how would you describe the feeling or shift it creates?

Reiki is a Japanese word that translates to “universal life force energy.” It’s a healing modality where energy is transferred through the hands. The practice has its own intelligence, so it goes to the root cause of whatever the “dis-ease” may be.

After a session, most people feel lighter, calmer, and more present in their bodies. I also infuse other practices, like EFT tapping, so sometimes clients feel sleepy afterward or extra invigorated because they’ve released something emotional.

Every client is different. Even with people I see weekly, each session is different. It’s kind of like a gym workout, there are many muscles to work, at different intensities. I really tune into what my client is asking for, and we create the experience together. I always say the client is the architect of our time.

Living out East has such a distinct energy. How does the Hamptons influence your practice and your daily rituals?

There truly is a unique energy here.

I’m mainly a West Coast girl, but I lived in New York City for seven years. I’ve always loved New York, but the Hamptons feel extra special. The pace is softer than in big cities, which I really align with.

I arrived in Sag Harbor about six months ago and fell in love. The people are friendly and genuine, and I’ve been craving that sense of community. I love being near the water, the change of seasons, and the fact that I can be at a world-class restaurant on Main Street in four minutes.

All of that influences my practice because my nervous system feels good here. It’s easier to slow down. To stay in my body. The air invites deeper breathing, and being immersed in nature is crucial to staying grounded.

What does your ideal slow morning or reset day look like?

Oh, I love a slow morning.

Ideally, I wake up, start the coffee, do a gentle movement practice, and then write my morning pages—a practice from The Artist’s Way where I write three full notebook pages as a release—while enjoying my coffee.

I usually have soft music on, often with abundance (888 hz) or love (639 hz) frequencies. If I’m really taking my time, I’ll light a candle and drop into my intentions for the day. After that, a long walk would be delightful.

For a quick reset—which most of us need at least once a day—I sit with my feet planted, rub my hands together until I feel heat, and place one hand on my heart and one on my belly. I close my eyes and breathe. Then I repeat whatever I most need in that moment: I am safe. I am loved. I am enough. It will all get done. I am divinely aligned.

It immediately re-regulates me.

Are there simple rituals you return to when you’re feeling out of balance?

Yes. The practice I just described is always helpful, but there are two more.

First: tapping. It’s a quick and easy way to calm the nervous system and scientifically proven to reduce cortisol. I 10/10 recommend it.

Second: a two-minute dance party. I pick a song and sing it out while dancing it out. I even have a gold portable karaoke microphone for when I really need to bring out the big guns.

Shifting our energy shifts the energy around us. But just as importantly, it reminds me to lighten up. Having fun is crucial.

We love the idea of getting dressed as part of a ritual. How does what you wear influence your sense of calm—or your daily rhythm?

For years, I worked in fashion, and I truly love getting dressed. I’m also a Libra, so I deeply appreciate a beautiful, pulled-together aesthetic.

Getting dressed is something I’m grateful for. I’ve curated a look that makes me feel confident. I have beautiful pieces I genuinely enjoy wearing. And the better I feel in my clothes, the better I feel in my body.

In my work, I don’t want to feel constricted. I gravitate toward pieces that are soft, cozy, and comfortable but still polished and professional. Approachable, but elevated.

What do you love about Leallo and what pieces do you find yourself reaching for most?

I could write a novel about how much I love this brand.

As someone very sensitive to energy, I was first drawn in by how effortlessly put together the window displays felt, chic without pretense. It was February, I was freezing, and I treated myself to a sweater.

I walked in and thought, “Oh my gosh, it’s my dream closet.”

Everything was soft. The lines were beautiful. The colors were perfect. I fell in love immediately.

But what kept me coming back was the culture in the store. The women were so friendly, never pushy. It felt joyful to shop there, which isn’t something I had experienced in a long time. That winter felt isolating, and it genuinely felt like being invited into a friend’s house for a fashion show.

As far as what I’m reaching for, it’s hard to narrow down. The sweaters are incredible. I live in my wraps and beanies. The tees are beautiful. But I am most obsessed with all things cashmere. I want it all.

Kate, thank you for sharing your story with such honesty and heart. Your perspective on resilience, ritual, and choosing alignment feels especially resonant here on the East End.
